A Misprice in the Slot
The Philadelphia Eagles host the Carolina Panthers in the 1:00 PM ET window of NFL Week 6, and our top prop is on Makai Lemon’s receiving yards. I think the market is overreacting to the quarterback change and wide receiver DeVonta Smith returning here. Philadelphia has dropped three straight to fall to 2-3, and the pessimism around this offense has pushed Lemon’s number lower than his role justifies.

Game: Carolina Panthers vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Kickoff: Sunday, Oct. 18, 1:00 PM ET
Venue: Lincoln Financial Field
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Lemon’s Role Isn’t Going Anywhere
Lemon will continue to operate as the slot receiver in 11 personnel, and Philadelphia uses 3WR sets at one of the highest rates in the league. Even with Smith back, Lemon should have opportunities to produce in a role that fits his skill set.
A Very Appealing Matchup
Philadelphia is a 3.5-point underdog against a Carolina defense that has been vulnerable through the air and is pretty beat up from injuries. The game script should give the Eagles opportunities to throw, and Lemon doesn’t need much volume to clear 18.5 yards. The game total has dipped from 40.5 to 39.5, but a low total doesn’t scare me here. If Philadelphia falls behind, short and intermediate throws to the slot become the easiest way to move the chains.
McKee Could Be a Sneaky Upgrade
I also think Tanner McKee could be a sneaky upgrade for Lemon specifically. McKee is a capable pocket passer, and I think he could unlock the middle of the field for Lemon. Hurts has thrown toward the middle of the field on just 16.8% of his attempts, while 74.3% of Lemon’s routes have been toward the middle of the field. That potential fit is worth considering, especially with such a low receiving-yard threshold.
Lemon Doesn’t Need a Big Game
Ultimately, I don’t need Lemon to take over the passing game. I just need him to keep his slot role, earn a couple of opportunities, and turn them into modest production in a good game environment. Two catches on quick slot targets could get this done before halftime. At 18.5 yards, I think this is a clear misprice.
