Matchday 2 in Group C will heat up Foxborough on Friday night, and the table already has a shape to it. Scotland sit top after grinding out a 1-0 win over Haiti, ending a 28-year wait for a World Cup victory and sending the Tartan Army into full voice. Morocco sit a point back after a 1-1 draw with Brazil that flattered the South Americans more than the scoreline suggests. The feel-good story says ride Scotland's momentum while it's hot. But momentum didn't create a single clear chance they could build a tournament on, and it isn't what decides this one. Look at how these two are actually built to play each other and the favorite earns its price.

Scotland's Real Game
Scotland got the result against Haiti, but the performance didn't sell me. There was a clear lack of creativity in the final third, too many sideways passes, and very little that looked like a designed way to break a set defense. Against Morocco I don't think they're good enough to hurt anyone in open play. The path to a goal here is narrow and it runs through dead balls, a set-piece or a header off a cross. That part isn't nothing. Morocco have shown some cracks defending set-pieces despite fielding a very tall back line, so there's a real lever to pull, and Robertson and McGinn can put a ball on a spot. But leaning your whole night on second balls in the box, against a side this comfortable soaking pressure and springing the other way, is a tough way to live for 90 minutes. One good delivery does not make a game plan, and if the first few set-pieces come to nothing, Scotland don't have an obvious Plan B to fall back on.
Morocco's Run
I saw everything I needed from Morocco in the opener. They were excellent in the 1-1 draw with Brazil and, frankly, lowkey outplayed them for long stretches, knocking it around with the kind of confidence you don't fake on that stage. The only reason it finished level is that they took their foot off late, content with the point and unwilling to over-commit. That calculus flips now. Sitting on one point with Brazil still to come, they have every reason to chase all three here, and in that scenario I trust the talent on that team to figure out a way through. The bigger picture backs it up: strip out that controversial AFCON final and they haven't lost in 29 games. Some of that run came against modest opposition, sure, but staying unbeaten that long is genuinely hard regardless of who's lining up across from you.
The Setup
This is a complete side against a one-dimensional one. Scotland need their set-piece lottery to land against a tall, organized box, and they need to manufacture in open play what they simply couldn't against Haiti. Morocco don't need anything dramatic. They need to do what they already did to Brazil for an hour, only this time without easing off, because the standings now demand the win rather than just allow for one. The motivation and the quality line up on the same side of the ledger.
The Bet
Morocco to Win (1u) | -145 MGM, -150 DK, -150 FD
The price is fair for the better team that also has the bigger reason to push. Scotland's best version is a set-piece away from a frustrating Morocco night, but their realistic version doesn't create enough to win this on merit. Back the Atlas Lions.
